Complex products. Innovative solutions

Fiber Dynamics is a designer and fabricator of complex structural composite components. We specialize in fire-retardant structures and resin-transfer molding, especially in the use of a proprietary lost-core methodology for the fabrication of hollow structures with internal stiffeners. Our other processes include compression/transfer molding, vacuum infusion, and pre-preg layup. Routinely we achieve significantly reduced costs on composite products of superior quality.

Lost Core Resin Transfer Molding (LCRTM)
  • A Fiber Dynamics proprietary process for manufacturing complex, high fiber volume composite geometries with hollow interior cavities
  • Intricate assemblies (including metal details and inserts) molded in a single operation — no secondary bonding or fastening
  • Superior control of wall thickness in critical thin-wall applications (down to a few thousands of an inch wall thickness)
  • Sinecore (tm) Sandwich Structures (pat.pend.) for the replacement of honeycomb and foam cored composite structures.

Conventional Matched-Die Resin Transfer Molding (RTM)

  • For complex, lightweight cored and solid laminate structures
  • Economical, high volume production
  • Excellent surface finish and structural properties
  • With proprietary flame-retardant technology for interior components

Design, Tooling, and Manufacturing Facilities

  • Design & modeling services
  • CNC machined metal and "soft" tooling fabrication
  • Prototyping through production
  • Complete layup, molding and finishing facilities
  • Proprietary meter/mix/injection equipment
  • 5 axis CNC routing and digitizing
Vacuum-Assisted Resin Transfer Molding (VARTM)
  • For autoclave-quality parts at a fraction of the cost
  • Outstanding surface finishes — minimal finishing required for paint preparation
  • Incorporation of integral stiffeners and foam cores for applications demanding extra stiffness with very little weight

Compression / Transfer Molding

  • For economical, high-rate production of structural & non-structural moldings

Prepreg Layup

  • Conventional vacuum bagged and oven or press cured components

Material Systems

  • Carbon, glass, aramid, PBO, quartz - virtually any fiber type that can be readily formed
  • Super-tough, highly reactive epoxy systems for the rapid production of impact resistant products
  • Phenolic, BMI, epoxy, cyanate ester and practically any other thermosetting matrix materials
  • Co-molded intumescing surfacing veils for enhanced fire retardancy
  • Proprietary fire retardant epoxy systems
